I’m an artist based in Crowthorne, Berkshire. My practice includes Painting and 3D Moving Image, with a focus on the contingent, provisional nature of Post-Digital Paper Sculpture. I work with 3D software to create digital models, which I cut and assemble in paper. The Sculptures provoke investigations into their unfolded nets, and the interdependencies between the physical objects and their unfixed, epiphenomenal dimensions in online space.
Central to the process is an interrogation of Sculptures’ relationship to language, and the capacity for sculpture to be freed from the determinations of language itself. Implicitly the work is dealing with dialogues around invisible labour processes, and negotiating representations around this. An attendance to grammar is partially informed by my mixed pakistani-british heritage.
I am a member of the Black Constellation collective along with the artists Nep Sidhu, Nicholas Galanin and others. I have screened my digital video work internationally, and been commissioned by the international Research Group WOV (Reducing Organisational Vulnerability of Women) and the Open University. I was awarded the ACE’s DYCP grant in 2024.
